Welcome

The Scottish Bible Society have issued daily readings for Lent.

Each reading plan features 20 short Bible readings in a simple format that draws people into the Bible. Every day has something to read, something to think about, and something to do.

They’re designed to be used by anyone! Use them yourself, in small groups, or share them with others.

The three themes are -

Love: Everybody is looking for love. But where can real love be found? Explore the God who is love, and how his love transforms us.

Death: Death affects us all. But what if there is life after death? Explore the Easter story. Beginning with Palm Sunday, it’s ideal for Holy Week.

Resurrection: Our world is broken. But what if it could be made new? Explore the hope of the new creation.  A fantastic way to follow Easter.

Scottish Bible Society

The Lenten period allows us to focus on the immense sacrifice Jesus made for us. Some people "give up" something for Lent but it may also be appropriate to do something extra like making time for a bible reflection or to spend time with others encouraging them in their daily lives.

Hope you enjoy the magazine.

Books

apologetics

There will be a table at the back of the church with books that were on shelves in the halls.
Rather than them collecting dust you are invited to peruse the titles and take home any you may wish to read.
Once you have finished with a title you may pass it on to a friend or return it to the table.
Thanks, Denise

Broomburn Steps

Help Required!

The steps and path behind the Church leading to Broomburn Drive need to be cleared weekly.
It is a public right of way. The area gets into such a mess mainly down to local school kids.

It takes about an hour for two people to lift litter and sweep steps. The more people (in pairs) who can help with this the better as it means your turn would be less frequent, every four to six weeks on a rotation basis.

When doing this we have had many conversations with locals and they all are very appreciative of what we are doing.

If you feel able to help please contact Norman

Blythswood Care

Blythswood 1

Most of you are aware that a group of us at Maxwell help sort shoeboxes in November for sending to Eastern Europe. Throughout the year we collect all kinds of things to add to the boxes, to even them out, so that all the boxes are of the same quality. If we have large donations of some things we make up boxes ready for November. We all get very excited if we come across "bargains" when we are out shopping. We are always on the lookout for empty shoeboxes which we cover before filling them.
There will be a box at the back of the church where you are invited to place things we may use in our boxes. If anyone is spring cleaning or downsizing we try and add different things such as a piece of costume jewellery or some cutlery to each box. I will leave a few leaflets that may help you see what we use and a list of suggested fillers if you are spring cleaning!

Many thanks
Denise

Music

Scale

Remember to bring along your list of favourite worship hymns and songs for Mike and Ian so we can expand our repertoire.
Your Sunday music group is very grateful for your kind comments and encouragement for its contribution to our Maxwell morning services.   We enjoy working with our locum ministers - Mike, Alister, et al and hearing our congregation enthusiastically singing the songs and hymns.

From time to time, however,  we will need to take the ‘occasional holiday’ and ideally have a rota for Sunday mornings.
We would therefore welcome interest from other members of our congregation to join us as singers and/or keyboard players.  You will receive great support and coaching.
If you can help us – please have a word with Ian after a morning service.

Tea / Coffee Rota

18 February - Jackie and Norman Mackenzie, May and Ken Walker.
25 February - ??

There are spaces on the rota so please consider putting your name down for the rota as the more folk help, the less frequently you will be called upon.

We are really trying to become greener and it really helps if people bring their own cups/mugs.

Thank you
Jackie and Norman

Maxwell Pray Now Group

Pray Now is a WhatsApp group for Maxwell members
pray now
This group sends out occasional requests for prayer. In particular those which might be regarding things more acute or immediate. At present there are 17 of us who, when we receive a request for prayer, stop what we are doing and pray for whatever has been asked.

Are you on the Pray Now WhatsApp Group? If you want to be added to the group to receive prayer news then simply ask Denise and she will add your number to the list.

If you have a matter that you would like to be prayed about in this way, you can contact Denise Lowson and she will organise for news to be sent out.
