Welcome

What a fantastic day we had last Sunday celebrating 50 years of worship in our current church building. So many faces. So many memories. Each one part of our Maxwell story. It was emotional as we raised our voices praising God as people have praised Him here for half a century.
After the service we spent more time in fellowship over a very tasty lunch with a lot of hard work behind the scenes from a group of ladies from the congregation.

Mike's Word of Easter Week

Just As He Said….
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. (Matt 28: 1 to 6)

He is Risen, Hallelujah!  Today we celebrate with great thanksgiving the fact of the resurrection. For a believer in Jesus, however, every day is Easter Day, for unless Jesus had been risen from the dead, we could never know His resurrection life, be born again of the Spirit of God, and be alive in Him on Easter Day or any other day for that matter. He is our life. He is everything. He is our Saviour, our Redeemer, our Joy, our eternal Hope. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow –as the old song expresses these timeless, amazing truths. Not just all the tomorrows of time, but the eternal tomorrow when one day, we are at home with the Lord.

For the disciples, His resurrected presence changed everything, darkness, doom and gloom was dispensed by the One who called Himself the Light of the World. Despair and hopelessness were replaced by their increasing awe, wonder, faith and courage as they realised what had happened, just as He said. If these words of Jesus about His own death and resurrection were proved to be true, there cannot be any of His words that aren’t true, a fact that should send us to our Bibles to discover afresh what Jesus told us about His second coming. Jesus said: Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away (Matt 24:34)

When the Philippian jailor who was guarding Paul and Silas in prison, and had been listening to their songs of praise to God, experienced the earthquake that had open the doors of the prison and shaken the chains of the prisoners, his immediate response was what must I do to be saved? Paul’s reply was: Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.
(Acts 16)

All our days are numbered by the Lord, Now is the time to seek the Lord while there is yet time. Now is the time for salvation to come to your house!

Prayer – Thank you Jesus for fulfilling Your amazing promise, that you would not only choose to die for the sins of the world but that You would be raised from the dear. Thank you, Lord that you delight to make Your home in our hearts as we confess our sin, our need of a Saviour and turn to You. Help me always to live for You as You choose to live in me. In Your name I pray…Amen.

Playgroup Easter Service

Fiona writes: Thank you to everyone we came along to our Playgroup Easter service on Tuesday in the sanctuary. Thanks to all who helped too. The children loved it and parents too!
It was a great service with the children singing Easter songs and watching cartoons about the Easter Story.
We also said thank you to June for her long service to the playgroup.

Tea / Coffee Rota

bring own cup
Easter Sunday 31 March - Jackie and Norman, May and Ken
7 April - T.B.A.

There are spaces on the rota so please consider putting your name down for the rota as the more folk help, the less frequently you will be called upon.

We are really trying to become greener and it really helps if people bring their own cups/mugs.

Thank you
Jackie and Norman

Session and Board Meeting

The next Session and Board meeting will take place on :
Wednesday 17 April at 7.30pm in The West Room.

There are still dates available from June to December if anyone would like
to mark a special occasion.

There are spare vases in the chapel (at the side of the chancel if you need them) in addition to the vase on the chancel table.
Remember - you don't have to be a florist !!  Just put the flowers in a vase on the table.
After the service - take them away to give to a friend or neighbour who may need cheering up.  There is some wrapping paper if required in the chapel.

Are you on the Pray Now WhatsApp Group? If you want to be added to the group to receive prayer news then simply ask Denise and she will add your number to the list.

If you have a matter that you would like to be prayed about in this way, you can contact Denise Lowson and she will organise for news to be sent out.
